

During this month we will be exploring different activities. We will talk about: Jackie Robinson, Sarah "Madame C.J." Walker, Martin Luther King, Jr, and making a Martin Luther King Celebration Quilt. We will do a Black History Skit: The Underground Railroad. Some other individuals will be:
- Garrett Morgan invented the traffic light
- Sarah Boone invented the iron board
- George Sampson invented the clothes dryer
While doing all of this we will also launch into a new theme called Sunshine and Raindrops. The objectives for this theme is blending words. We also are working on the letter sounds L, K, and Q and words with the short i sound. Our high frequency words are : is & here. In reading we are working on different strategies like decoding unknown words, predicting, checking the beginning letter sound, stretching the word and summarizing. Our comprehension skills will be on fantasy or realism. In reading we will also look at describing words, and weather action words. The concepts in print that we are working on will be: capital letters, end punctuation and quotation marks. In writing we will focus on weather observation and describing the weather.
