Welcome to 5th Grade!
Matthew 5:16
"In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
Focus on Learning
Math- In math class right now we are working on multiplying whole numbers and decimals. Working with your child on their multiplication and division facts will definitely be an asset.
English- We are working on writing good paragraphs in 5th grade. These start with a topic sentence and are finished with at least 3 good supporting sentences. In reading we are focusing on making connections with the books that we read. Right now we are focusing on text to self connections (finding something that you can personally relate to in your reading).
Social Studies- In Social Studies we are working on state projects. Your child has picked a state and is finishing the gathering of notes on that state. We will soon begin turning those notes into a 5 paragraph essay.
