As a Good Reader You:
Predict:
What will this story be about? What will happen next?
Visualize:
Make a movie in your head. What do I see in my mind as I read this part of story?
Question:
Think about the story, asking yourself who, when, where, why, and how?
Clarify:
Can I read all the words? Use strategies to read tricky words:
· Beginning Sounds
· Ending sounds
· Pictures clues
· Chunk the word
· Look for smaller word within bigger word
· Blank the word and reread the sentence
Connect:
Use what you know about other stories, people, and
places to help you relate to the story.
Summarize:
Review what was important about this story?

- But, (there was a problem)
- Then (The problem was solved)
- Finally (what happened at the end?)
