In Jesus Time…

In Reading…

• Print concepts: punctuation, using schema to read, point to words one to one, read initial sounds and words you know, use pictures to read the words

• Read teacher read-alouds, Bob books, weekly sight word reader books, and word family readers 

In Math…

• Money: Counting pennies and exchanging for nickel
• Counting by 10's
• Exploring ABC patterns 
• Counting and recognizing numbers to 30
• Exploring measurement: length

In Language Arts…

• Writer's Workshop: making books using own words; understand sequence of story (beginning, middle, end)
• Read, write, spell, say word family words (-ot, -it, -op, -en)
• Learn and review capital letters, letter sounds, and small letters we have learned

In Science…

• Nutrition: eating healthy, choosing good foods to eat, types of foods we eat and how much we need a day
• Dental Hygiene
• Exercise and movement

In Social Studies…

• Black History Heroes: Learning about Martin Luther King Jr.
• The Easter Story
• Using good manners
• Show how you care for others through words and actions

In Music…

• Rhythm patterns using percussion instruments
• Jesus songs

Please SIGN and RECORD the number of minutes you work on Home Activities and Reading each night.  This is part of our Parent Outreach activities requirements for our school.  Help us to help your child be the best they can be!

Parent Involvement

Please work on Home activities each week.  Reading two books a night with your child will increase their reading skills and reading comprehension immensely.  Return the home activities cover page signed each Monday. 

K4 Learning Goals this trimester:

· to help your child master all alphabet letter names and sounds

· be able to write their first and last name,

· recognize and be able to make rhymes with words by learning word family words (i.e. -at, -et, -ot)

· recognize numbers 0-20 by sight

· read 20+ sight words

· recognize frequently seen words

• grow in their faith through prayer, Bible reading, and Jesus songs
