Spread the News

Many of our families have said CUS is the best kept secret in Milwaukee! Please help us let the secret out. We would like every family to invite someone to our upcoming Book Fair and Spring Concert. Tell your family, friends, neighbors, or anyone who wants to send their child to a great school.

Re-enrollment

We still have families that have not re-enrolled for next year. If you have not scheduled your appointment to re-enroll, please turn in the yellow appointment card to the office. We can not guarentee a seat for your child without your registration materials.

End of Year Notes

    • Check out the counter in the office for a variety of summer activities for kids.

    3rd Grade News

The third graders have been working very hard all year and have learned so much! They are super excited about becoming fourth graders in a few short weeks! We will continue to work on our times tables through the rest of the school year. I have been sending home flash cards for students to practice with every night. Please make sure they continue to use them all summer long! We will be wrapping up our Social Studies unit; "Where in the World is Milwaukee, Wisconsin?" by completing maps of the world, the continent of North America, the US, the Midwest, Wisconsin, and Milwaukee. We have been reading The Sideways Stories of Wayside School and are creating a visual display outside our room of what we think the school and all the characters look like as we read together every day. Please stop by and check it out!

    The Buzz in First Grade!!!!

Wow, has first grade been busy learning this year.  I can't believe it is already 4th quarter!  First grade is finishing up their unit on money and will be starting to work on telling time to the hour and half hour.  Our reading focus has been making connections with books to ourselves, to other books, to the world, and staying focused on reading the book and not daydreaming about the connection.  Our writing focus has been using proper punctuation at the end of our sentences.  We have also focused on writing good questions and answering our questions with complete sentences.  As we move into April we will focus on plants, what they need to grow, and changes that happen to plants in springtime.  At Jesus time we are finishing up learning about Jesus' many parables and preparing to study Holy Week and our Lord's Ressurection

2nd Grade Scoop: February has been a busy time for the second grade class!  We have been working very hard on our reading and writing and getting ready for the Black History Fair this coming Thursday!  Our class has been studying books by famous African American children's authors such as Donald Crews, Angela Medearisa, Patricia McKissick, and Pat Cummings. When we aren't preparing for black history month we have been working a variety of new things.  It is the time of year where second grade begins double digit addition and subtraction.  While it may be a difficult task second grade is definitely up for the challenge!  In writing, we have been working on the beginnings of our stories.  We have been working with direct quotes and a lot of different noise words to make our beginnings truly brilliant.  Finally, in religion we have been learning more and more about the life of Jesus as we prepare to talk about lent and the sacrifice our Heavenly Father made for us.  Pop on in and see all the great that second grade is doing today!

    Reminders

School ends at 3:10. If you arrive early please wait in the front entry or outside until children are dismissed.

4-8th grade parents should have received a letter regarding dicipline policies and grounds for dismissal. The letter was sent home with children the week of Feb. 9th.

Enrollment packets for next year are available for pick up.  Parents/Guardians stop in the office to pick up your packet and fill out the appointment card. Choice applications will be accepted by appointment only.

    Blessings

Our students were blessed to have a lady come to our school for 6 weeks to give them a taste of tennis in Phy Ed class.  Ask your child about “The Queen” she was great!

Congratulations, to our 5/6 and 7/8 grade boy’s basketball teams. Both teams displayed excellent sportsmanship and brought home trophies from the February tournaments. The trophies are currently on display in the office.

We are looking for someone to build a display case for the trophies. If you or someone you know can build one for the school please
